NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) System: Plants are grown in channels where nutrient solution is pumped through. Roots are kept moist by a thin film of solution. Ideal for lettuce and herbs.

Substrate System: Uses a timed drip system to deliver solution to growing media (rockwool, perlite, etc.). Providing fresh nutrients, water and oxygen. Often used for long-term plants like tomatoes.
