Magnetron Sputtering Process
A high negative voltage is applied to the sputtering sources, which contain the coating material. The resulting electrical gas discharge leads to the formation of positive argon ions, which are accelerated towards, and atomize the coating material. Evaporated, atomised metal in the gaseous phase then reacts with a gas containing the non-metallic component of the hard coating.
The Magnetron Sputtering Machine for Commercial Applications is a production-oriented physical vapor deposition (PVD) system designed for high-quality thin film coating on a variety of substrates. Using advanced planar or rotatable magnetron cathodes, this machine deposits metals, alloys, oxides, and nitrides onto glass, metals, plastics, ceramics, and other materials. It is widely used for architectural glass coating (Low-E, solar control), decorative finishes (chrome-like, gold, brass), automotive parts (trim, reflectors), electronics (EMI shielding, conductive layers), and functional films (anti-reflection, barrier layers). With modular chamber design, fast cycle times, and fully automated control, this sputtering machine delivers excellent coating uniformity (plus or minus 3 percent) and high throughput for commercial production environments.
The end result is the deposition of a thin, compact coating with the desired structure and composition.
System Features
- Commercial-Scale Chamber: Chamber sizes from 1000 mm to 2000 mm diameter or inline configurations for continuous processing of large substrates.
- Multiple Sputtering Cathodes: Accommodates 2 to 12 magnetron cathodes (DC, pulsed DC, or MF). Suitable for single-layer, multilayer, and alloy coatings.
- High Uniformity: Optimized magnetic field and substrate rotation (planetary or linear) ensure thickness variation within plus or minus 3 percent across large batches or wide panels.
- Reactive Sputtering Capability: Integrated gas distribution and MF power supplies for stable deposition of oxides (TiO2, SiO2, ZnO, SnO2, ITO) and nitrides (Si3N4, TiN).
- Fast Pumping System: Rotary pump + roots pump + diffusion or turbo pump achieves working vacuum in 5 to 15 minutes.
- Large Substrate Capacity: Handles glass panels up to 2500 mm width, metal sheets up to 2000 mm, or batch loads of small parts up to 500 kg.
- Fully Automated Control: PLC and HMI touchscreen with recipe management, real-time monitoring, data logging, and remote diagnostics.
- Energy Efficient: High target utilization (up to 80 percent for planar, over 90 percent for rotatable) and regenerative power supplies reduce operating costs.
- Eco-Friendly: Closed-loop water cooling, no liquid chemicals, no hazardous waste. Compliant with international environmental standards.
Applications
- Architectural Glass: Low-emissivity (Low-E) coatings, solar control glass, anti-reflective glass for display windows.
- Decorative Coatings: Chrome-like finishes on plastic and metal parts for furniture, lighting, bathroom fixtures, door handles.
- Automotive: Interior and exterior trim (chrome look), headlamp reflectors, decorative emblems, sensor housings.
- Electronics: EMI shielding for enclosures, ITO transparent conductive layers for touch panels, barrier films.
- Packaging: Transparent barrier coatings (AlOx, SiOx) on polymer films for food and medical packaging.
- Hardware and Home Appliances: Decorative and wear-resistant coatings on faucets, hinges, knobs, appliance panels.
- Solar Energy: Transparent conductive oxides (TCO) for thin-film solar cells, reflector coatings for CSP.

Service & Performance Warranties
After-Sales Support: The quality of all primary components is guaranteed within a 12-month period. If the core components experience issues under normal, specified operations within the first year, they will be updated or maintained without additional cost. Post-warranty, replacement parts and ongoing on-site assistance will be provided at cost. Prompt remote technical support remains available at all times.
Quality Guarantee: All products are constructed using premium materials and first-class workmanship. The system will be delivered brand new, unused, and fully compliant with the quality, output, and technical specifications outlined in the technical draft. The official warranty period extends 12 months from the B/L date. Issues resulting from improper user control or unrelated plant variables will be repaired with charges limited to the cost of raw parts.
On-Site Commissioning: Specialized technicians can be dispatched to oversee installation, vacuum profiling, and testing procedures. Corresponding travel and logistics costs are handled in accordance with contract terms, and local facility management must supply standard machinery setup support.
